A unique Brew Trail where the destination in the journey ~

The Sou’West

Generally referred to the “Sou’West”, this South West corner of Australia is something pretty special.

There is an abundance of natural beauty… rolling hills, towering gum trees and a simply breathtaking coastline, but it is the people that choose to live here that make this area so special.

It is the south-west lifestyle that drew us here, the vibe… and we are all stoked to be brewing beer in such an epic community.

Each brewery in the area offers something a little different, and that is what’s so awesome about it all. We aren’t on each other’s doorsteps - the region actually spans around 200km from tip to tail, and we recon it’s best explored over a few days.

We are working together as a group to promote our awesome industry, region and community

Margaret River has long been regarded as one of the worlds premium wine regions… but sometimes you just want to chill with a beer!

"At Beerfarm we take pride in every step of the journey, sourcing the best ingredients, never taking shortcuts and always delivering the finest brews we can muster. Our beers range from lip-smacking traditional ales to mind-blowing new flavours.

Don’t be shy. Have a go!“

Josh Thomas – Head Brewer

At Beerfarm, we’re committed to reducing our footprint every step of the way. We run an ever-growing array of solar panels across our brewery’s rooftops to minimise our energy use and have a thorough wastewater plan in place to reduce our water consumption during the beer making-process, while managing our waste water post-brew.

Our herd of Black Angus cattle roam the surrounding paddocks and are fed a diet of grass and spent grain from the brewing process, in a circular economy to keep our product as local as possible.

While recycling, up-cycling and composting are our bread and butter, each day we strive to improve our efforts in sustainable practises wherever we can. But our commitment to the future focuses on more than just energy and waste management, it’s also about our people and our community.

This is why we created our Save the Harvest initiative in 2018, to support Aussie farmers and help reduce agricultural food waste. Or our Native Series of beers in collaboration with Fervor, which looks to educate Australians about the native ingredients in their backyards, as well as the flavour and stories that go with them, while supporting indigenous farming enterprises at the same time.

"Our beer philosophy is about balanced quality beers, no matter what the base style, that showcase local ingredients where possible. We don’t sit too tightly into one style, brewing anything from sours, to hazies, to banging lagers. All our beers are brewed with the intention of giving people a piece of our beautiful Eagle Bay venue at home.”

Keegan Steinbacher - Head Brewer

Eagle Bay is owned and operated from the ground up, since 2010, by third generation local farming siblings Nick, Astrid and Adrian d’Espeissis. The property has been in the family since 1950 and the farm is still operational, with the trio’s father John farming the land that the building overlooks Cape Naturaliste. The Eagle Bay Brewing Co range is all handcrafted, preservative free, brewed in small batches and made with five key ingredients; freshly harvested rainwater, malted barley, yeast, hops and sunshine to power the brewery. Our beers are brewed for and inspired by long afternoons in our south west backyard, best enjoyed with mates.

“We love what we do, and we take pride in every drop we produce. Our passion for brewing is what drives us to create unique and delicious beers that people can enjoy and remember."

Caitlin Ellis - Lead Brewer

Sitting conveniently on the banks of the Margaret River, in the Town's centre, the Margaret River Brewhouse is our town’s local brewery; owned by locals and run by locals.

Our core range of beers have been crafted to quench the thirst of the modern craft beer market as well as the more traditional beer drinker. Designed to give a ‘happy’ beer choice to every person that walks up to our bar at our brewpub, our home base and heart of everything we do.

From bouncy, flavourful US style pales and IPAs to traditional lagers and ales, Margaret River Brewhouse products set the bar for any beer aficionado.

We spice it up with ongoing seasonals and one offs such as the multi award winning behemoth that is the barrel aged imperial stout ‘Panther Cream’ to our fruity, juicy mega popular Hazy IPA ‘In The Pines’.

Our range of products is rounded out by our ‘Megsy’ ginger beer. At a refreshing 3.1% Megsy is a perfect balance between ginger spice and a little sweetness. Add lime, ice, mint and you have the perfect summer beverage.

"Our beers are like a dip in the ocean on a hot summer’s day: crisp, clean, uncomplicated, and always the highest quality.“

Jason Credaro - Head Brewer

Shelter sits at the foot of the famous Busselton Jetty, overlooking tinnies on the bay, foreshore picnics and kids competing for the biggest bombie. We’re born, owned and brewed in Busselton - and want to craft beautiful beers that we can share with the world.

Shelter is all about the fun, good times and good vibes that come along with that long weekend holiday, road trip down the coast or family camping trip. It’s the beer you drink while manning the BBQ, watching the cricket, sunning on a pool floatie or getting over the embarrassment of missing the boat ramp a hundred times in front of the locals.

“Our vision is focused purely on a meaningful experience.

Our onsite limitations actually work in our favour, giving us the opportunity to batch-brew in small, fresh batches. As with our dynamic restaurant menu, we deliver a drastically rotating range of beers from ligh-on-the-palate Lagers to huge, complex Stouts – all produced with a passion for the craft using only the most superior of ingredients.”

Dillon Hunter - Brewer

Nestled in the idyllic Yallingup Hills, Wild Hop Brewing Company is a family friendly brew-pub and restaurant that offers an range of ever-changing batch-brewed beers and a unique family-style share menu highlighting local produce and utilising our signature wood fired oven.

Surrounded by towering gum trees and overlooking our spring-fed dam to the vineyards beyond, we are family and dog friendly. We’re the kind of place you can visit with sandy toes after a day at the beach, or make plans to visit for family feast to mark a special occasion.

We don’t package our beers, so you won’t find us in at the local bottle-o. Be sure to bring along your growler for some of the freshest beer in the south west!
